City of Mustang

The City of Mustang has developed an evacuation plan in case of an emergency. In an evacuation you should be prepared to evacuate yourself and your family. You should have a plan of action and every member of your family should be aware of the plan.

It is unlikely that we would ever have to evacuate the entire City of Mustang for any emergency, but it is likely that smaller portions of town may have to evacuate on very short notice.

It will be your responsibility to evacuate yourself when necessary on very short notice, in the case of an unforeseen emergency. The City of Mustang will have very few immediate resources to assist citizens in evacuating in the first few hours of an emergency.

In the case of emergencies with prior warning, and requiring the evacuation of a major portion of the city, the city will activate the City Assisted Evacuation Plan, in an effort to assist citizens who want to evacuate, but lack the capability to self-evacuate.

The City Assisted Evacuation Plan is not intended to replace the individual’s personal responsibility in preparing for their own evacuation. It is meant to be an evacuation method of last resort and only for those citizens who have no other means or, have physical limitations that prohibit self evacuation.

This information is being provided to you so that you can better prepare yourself and your family in case you ever have to evacuate during an emergency. The most likely evacuation you will face is one that is unexpected, and on very short notice. It is important you prepare yourself for this type of evacuation, and it is our hope that this information helps you in that endeavor.

In a foreseen evacuation you will receive additional information from the city about what routes to utilize in an evacuation, and what shelters will be available.
