Primary Evacuation Routes will be utilized during an evacuation with prior warning.

You should utilize the evacuation route that is closest to your work or home. Depending on how much early warning you receive there may not be traffic control on the evacuation routes, so you should plan ahead and leave early to avoid heavy traffic.

During an unforeseen emergency incident evacuation the pre-designated driving routes may not be usable. Rather than use designated routes, the location of the incident will determine the evacuation route. All traffic will be directed outward from that point, using as many pre-designated routes as possible. Emergency personnel will divert traffic to the most effective means available. Citizens should always follow the instructions of emergency personnel.

Important:

Primary and Secondary Evacuation Routes are listed below so you will be aware of all of the evacuation routes the city will use in an emergency. It is important that citizens understand that at the time of an emergency evacuation the routes you are requested to use will be announced by emergency personnel. Also, secondary evacuation routes should only be used in an evacuation with prior warning, and you are leaving early enough to avoid heavy traffic, or when emergency personnel designate that route as a main evacuation route. Only when a secondary route is designated by emergency personnel as a main evacuation route, and there is little prior warning, will any traffic control personnel be assigned to that route.

Basic Driving Information:

1) Vehicles will use the normal side of the roadway unless directed by safety officials to use both sides of the roadway.
2) Inbound traffic may be restricted.
3) Traffic will not be permitted to drive across Mustang. You must drive by the designated routes or as directed by safety officials.
