Utility Service

Every consumer applying for water, sewer, and/or sanitation services shall be required to make a security deposit (see Fees & Charges). Applications must be filled out in person at City Hall and a valid US State Drivers License, State ID, Federal ID, Military ID. or US Passport is required - NO EXCEPTIONS.  Also a copy of the Lease Agreement is required for all renters/lessees.  Security deposits will be held on the account until termination and then applied to final bills. Applications will be received Monday-Thursday, 8:00a-5:30p. and Fridays 8:00a - 11:30a.  Same day service is offered for those applications processed before 4:00p on Monday - Thursday and 11:00a on Fridays only.  For deposits paid after 4:00p and/or 11:00a there is no guarantee of same day connection but every attempt will be made. Please be sure to turn off all faucets in the house.  It is not a requirement to be at home on the day of connection. Should Public Works determine, after connecting service, that there is a question of water disbursing within the home, the meter will be shut off and a notice shall be placed on the homeowners door.

Please note that the application is a Contract for Service and the account holder shall be responsible for said water meter.  Fees and additional charges are imposed on the utility bill in regards to disconnect, late fees, tampering, etc.  Please see "Fees and Charges" form for a complete listing.  NOTE: By policy you will be required to provide the last four of the SSN associated with an account in order to request any information.

Sec. 78-117.  Tampering with or damaging public utilities.

It is unlawful for any person to connect or attach any kind of pipe, wire or other contrivance to any pipe, line, wire or other conductor carrying gas, water or electricity and belonging to a public utility, whether publicly or privately owned, in such a manner as to enable him to consume or use the gas, water or electricity without its passing through the meter or in any other way so as to evade payment therefore.  It is also unlawful for any person to damage, molest, tamper with or destroy any pipe, line, wire, meter or other part of any public utility, including telegraph and telephone systems.

The account holder is the only person who can terminate a utility account.  In order to terminate service, please complete and return the "Termination of Service" form to the Utility Department.  In the event of a death, power of attorney, etc.. a copy of proper documentation must be presented to the Utility Department in order to change a name or terminate an account.

Changes to Active Accounts

The Utility Department does not make changes to any active account unless directed by the "account holder".  In order to change the name, address, phone, e-mail OR add additional names to the account, proper documentation must be completed by said account holder.  The account holder must provide their signature to each form in order to complete any changes.

AS THE ACCOUNT HOLDER ONLY:

If you need to change the name of the account due to a divorce, marriage and/or death, please use the below form "Request For Name Change - Release of Deposit".  Please make note that this in turn releases your Deposit held on the account to the additional name added.  

If you need to change your account to allow someone other than yourself or your co-applicant, to obtain information regarding your account, please use the below form "Amendment to Service Contract".  This is an "inquire" only account.  They will not have the authority to terminate, change name, address, phone, etc.  It does not entitle them to the deposit held on active account.

If you wish to add someone to your account (i.e. roommate, new spouse, parent, child), please use the below form "Account Name Amendment".  By making this addition, the adding party must sign the form and provide a copy of their driver's license. This addition WILL  make them liable for any balances due on the account.
