A white arrow on pavement

Have you seen these arrows around town and wondered what they are?   These are Ground Control Points being utilized by surveyors conducting aerial surveys as part of a waterline design project along SH-152.   Aerial surveys are conducted through the use of drone mounted LiDAR or powerful cameras that produce very high-resolution images that can be turned into topography though photogrammetry.  The large painted arrows are easily identified in the aerial imagery and provide a point of reference on the ground.
