The City of Mustang will be providing an "Employee Spotlight" each month so that citizens can learn more about the public servants that contribute to our City running smoothly.  The Employee Spotlight will feature answers to a series of questions about the selected employee, the department and position they serve in, and unique likes and interests of the employee.

The March 2024 Employee Spotlight is Craig Carruth, Fire Chief.

How long have you worked for the City of Mustang?   I just completed 25 years with the City of Mustang in December of 2023.

Where were you born?  (Hospital is not a permitted answer)  Oklahoma City, OK.

How long have you lived in Mustang?  25 years.

Are you married?  If so, for how long?  Children?   Yes, I've been married 28 years to Brooke, and we have four children (Austin 23, Abrie 21, Ashton 19, and Addisyn 17).

What do you enjoy the most about working for the City of Mustang?  The thing I enjoy the most about working for the City of Mustang is the relationships and friendships I have been able to make.

What project have you been a part of while employed by the City of Mustang that you enjoyed the most?   That is a toss-up! It would be between Ladder-1 and Station #2.

Favorite Food?   I would have to say steak, although, I do really like sushi.

 Favorite Recording Artist?  Brandon Lake

Do you have a secret skill or talent?   No sorry, nothing special here.

You recently completed the Executive Fire Officer Leadership Program at OSU in Stillwater.  What did you enjoy the most about that program?  This program by far has been the single best program I have taken since being in the fire service. Much like any program, you get out what you put in. This program required me to  think deep on many different personal topics, and I would say that internal process has made a positive difference in me professionally and personally. I enjoyed the ability to challenge myself through very frank self-reflection and journaling. I also enjoyed the personal feedback from program facilitators. Great Program!
