The City of Mustang will be providing an "Employee Spotlight" each month so that citizens can learn more about the public servants that contribute to our City running smoothly.  The Employee Spotlight will feature answers to a series of questions about the selected employee, the department and position they serve in, and unique likes and interests of the employee.

The September Employee Spotlight is Jana Brence, Communications Supervisor.

How long have you worked for the City of Mustang?   16 years (Been in the dispatching world for 19 years.  I know I don’t look that old)

Where were you born?   Weatherford, OK and grew up in Hinton, OK

How long have you lived in Mustang?  17 years

Are you married?  If so for how long?  Children?   My husband Sammy and I just celebrated 18 years of marriage at the end of August.  We have no human children but have 3 furchildren.

What do you enjoy the most about working for the City of Mustang?   It really is a family!  People will reach out through the up’s and down’s of life!

What project have you been a part of while employed by the City of Mustang that you enjoyed the most?   I was part of the remodel of the dispatch center in 2017.  I helped with finding our CAD system and the design of dispatch.  It was challenging yet rewarding once it was completed!

Favorite Food?   I’m not really that picky

Favorite Recording Artist?  I’m an old school Country person

Do you have a secret skill or talent?   I have thought about this for 3-4 weeks and I can’t think of anything!

How have things changed in dispatch, communications, support services since you have been employed with the City of Mustang?  What do you like most about it?  How things have not changed might be an easier question.  The atmosphere, technology, communication between departments.  I believe our dispatch center is one of the best as well as I have the best group of employees anyone could ever hope for.   I love watching someone who has never done this job grow and build confidence into the role they were hired for.  Truly blessed!
