The City of Mustang provides a " Spotlight Employee" each month so that citizens can learn more about the public servants that contribute to our City running smoothly. The Spotlight Employee will feature answers to a series of questions about the selected employee, the department and position they serve in, and unique likes and interests of the employee.
The June 2025 Employee Spotlight is Accounts Payable Specialist, Ashley Neely..
How long have you worked for the City of Mustang? I will celebrate my two-year anniversary with the City of Mustang on July 31st.
Where were you born? (Hospital is not a permitted answer) I was born in Oklahoma City and grew up in Enid.
Where do you live and how long have you lived there? I've lived in the Mustang area for 11 years.
Do you have any children? Yes, I have three amazing kids. My son, Christian, and his wife Abbey, live in Enid. My daughters, Chloe and Brooklyn, live here with me. I also have three dogs - Bentley, Scrappy Dappy Doo, and Sam - who make me feel like I am raising three toddlers on pixie sticks.
What do you enjoy the most about working for the City of Mustang? I enjoy my job because it requires a lot of attention to detail - something my OCD tendencies really appreciate. I love staying busy and we work hard, but have fun while doing it. My team is always ready to dive in, especially when I come up with a new prank idea. It's a great balance of productivity and playfulness.
What project have you been a part of while employed by the City of Mustang that you enjoyed the most? I've been involved in two audits since I started - and believe it or not, I actually enjoyed them. (Yes, I really said I enjoyed audits...I might need to get out more!) In all seriousness, the process gave me a deeper appreciation for the integrity of our Finance Director and the entire Finance Department. We are truly committed to being responsible stewards of our citizens' money. Every detail matters to us - we work hard to ensure we consistently follow policies and uphold the highest ethical standards. That level of dedication makes me proud to be part of this department and the City of Mustang.
Favorite Food? A perfectly grilled, medium-rare steak served with a rosemary salt baked potato on the side.
Favorite Recording Artist? I love way too many genres and artists to choose just one, but if I had to pick a favorite guitarist it would be C. C. Deville.
Do you have a secret skill or talent? I can tap dance.
We really try to focus on the City organization having a family friendly and supportive environment. As a relatively new employee to our organization, is that something you have witnessed during your tenure with the City of Mustang? Without a doubt. The past two years have brought more personal challenges than I ever expected, but the support I have received from my team - and everyone in the organization - has been incredible. I've grown not only in my role but as a person, thanks to the encouragement and kindness of those around me. The people I work with have truly become my second family. I feel fortunate to be part of a workplace where hard work is appreciated, family is valued, and we genuinely look out for one another. Plus, there's always laughter to carry us through the tough days.
