At the June 3, 2025 meeting, the Mustang City Council adopted Resolution 25-023 calling for a Special Election for the Office of Mayor.

The primary election shall be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 to nominate candidates for Mayor to complete the current term of the resigned Mayor, which shall end on the First Monday in May, 2027.  The Mayor will be elected at large by qualified voters in the City of Mustang.

The general election shall be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 to elect the Mayor to complete the current term of the resigned Mayor, which shall end on the First Monday in May, 2027.  The Mayor will be elected at large by qualified voters in the City of Mustang.

The elections shall in all respects be governed by the Charter of the City of Mustang, Oklahoma concerning candidate’s qualifications and conduct of the primary and general elections, and shall be nonpartisan.  If there should be no candidates to be voted upon at the special primary or general elections, then said elections shall not be held.

The period for filing for the office of Mayor shall begin on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 8:00 AM and close on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 4:30 PM.*   Filing for office shall be with the Secretary of the Canadian County Election Board in El Reno, Oklahoma.

The dates of the elections as designated by the Canadian County Election Board the polls shall remain open continuously from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

*NOTE:  Filing begins no earlier than 8:00 AM on Monday, July 28, 2025 and ends no later than 4:30 PM on the next succeeding Wednesday (three full days) with the Secretary of the County Election Board prior to the primary election.  Also, 60 days notice of Election must be given to the Election Board by filing approved copies of this Resolution.
