The City of Mustang provides a "Spotlight Employee" each month so that citizens can learn more about the public servants that contribute to our City running smoothly.  The Spotlight Employee will feature answers to a series of questions about the selected employee, the department and position they serve in, and unique likes and interests of the employee.

The October 2026 Spotlight Employee is Lauri Diment of the Mustang Parks and Recreation Department.

How long have you worked for the City of Mustang?  12 years.

Where were you born?  (Hospital is not a permitted answer)  San Antonio, Texas.

Where do you live and how long have you lived there?  Mustang for 13 years.

Are you married? Do you have any children? Rick and I have been married for 13 years in December. We share 3 sons and a granddaughter.

What do you enjoy the most about working for the City of Mustang?  There is never a dull moment in the Parks and Recreation Department! No day is ever the same. It is a privilege to be part of the "fun" department and help bring events, services, and activities to our citizens.

Specifically, what project have you most enjoyed being a part of while working for the City of Mustang? Honestly, my first project will always be my favorite. I was originally hired to process storm shelter applications when Mustang received a grant to reimburse citizens for installing storm shelters at their homes. It was a wonderful program that helped hundreds of residents - including me - get the opportunity to have some peace of mind by having a safe place during severe storms.

Favorite Food?  Lobster.

Favorite Recording Artist or Author?  Fredrick Backman is my favorite author and Shinedown is my favorite band.

Do you have a secret skill or talent?  I enjoy making quilts.

What would you like to communicate to citizens about the importance of Parks and Recreation? The things that I feel like people don't know about us is the scope of what we do. We don't just take care of the parks, throw fantastic special events, and operate a ball complex. We offer lunches to our senior population 5 days a week. We offer rental facilities for anything from baby showers to weddings to trade shows. We operate an aquatics center that offers swim lessons for the kids in our community. We provide childcare for our Recreation Center members as well as summer camp for 100 kids every year with mini camps throughout the year. All these things are just some of what is under the Parks and Recreation umbrella. I'm just proud to be a part of a group that works so hard for our community and touches lives in so many ways.
