Human Resources Director Jessica Hunt looking at the sunset over the Delaware Bay

The City of Mustang provides a " Spotlight Employee" each month so that citizens can learn more about the public servants that contribute to our City running smoothly.  The Spotlight Employee will feature answers to a series of questions about the selected employee, the department and position they serve in, and unique likes and interests of the employee.

The May 2025 Employee Spotlight is Human Resources Director, Jessica Hunt..

How long have you worked for the City of Mustang?   I hit my one year mark on April 1, 2025.

Where were you born?  (Hospital is not a permitted answer) Ada, Oklahoma at the Indian Hospital (Now Chickasaw Nation Medical Center).

Where do you live and how long have you lived there?  I live in Oklahoma City and have lived there a little over a month - after transitioning from Edmond.

Are you married?  If so, for how long?  Children? I have been married one year in February of 2025 to my husband Bennie Brown who is a Captain in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. I do not have children but that doesn't mean I don't care about them! (I was a child therapist before I came here.)

What do you enjoy the most about working for the City of Mustang?  Helping employees feel heard when they might need a listening ear. I do think this is the most important part of my job.

What project have you been a part of while employed by the City of Mustang that you enjoyed the most? The Annual Holiday Party which was a lot of fun!

Favorite Food? My mom's spaghetti.

Favorite Recording Artist?  Whitney Houston, hands down.

Do you have a secret skill or talent?  I don't know how secret it is anymore, but I love to sing and write. I still am licensed to practice law and have my Licensed Professional Councilor license.

You have degrees in both Law and Counseling. How does this background assist you with your daily responsibilities as the Human Resources Director for the City of Mustang? Human Resources deals with compliance (law) and helping people (therapy). I feel that both of these degrees and various work experiences have prepared me for this role, and I hope to make a difference in the lives of employees here.
