The City of Mustang provides a " Spotlight Employee" each month so that citizens can learn more about the public servants that contribute to our City running smoothly.  The Spotlight Employee will feature answers to a series of questions about the selected employee, the department and position they serve in, and unique likes and interests of the employee.

The July 2025 Employee Spotlight is Library Circulation Manager, Breanna Cecil.

How long have you worked for the City of Mustang?   June of this year marked my 10th anniversary with the City of Mustang.

Where were you born?  (Hospital is not a permitted answer) I was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana. My family moved to Oklahoma when I was little, so I don't remember much about it. I would love to go back and visit.

Where do you live and how long have you lived there?  I have lived in Tuttle for over 20 years. I grew up in Mustang and have worked in Mustang for a decade now, so its like my second hometown..

Do you have any children? I am not married, but I do have two adorable little nephews that I consider my "bonus kids". I can spoil them rotten and then send them home.

What do you enjoy the most about working for the City of Mustang?  Working for the City of Mustang has been a great way to give back to the community. I have to say, helping patrons discover their next favorite book is my favorite part. I love it when they come back and tell me how much they loved my book recommendation.

What project have you been a part of while employed by the City of Mustang that you enjoyed the most? I don't know if I would call it a project, but I was named the 2022 City of Mustang Employee of the Year by the American Legion Post 353. It was gratifying to see how my hard work and dedication had been recognized.

Favorite Food? Pasta or Chicken! Pasta AND Chicken! I am always down for some chicken nuggets or chicken alfredo..

Favorite Recording Artist?  Anybody who knows me knows my answer to this will be Taylor Swift. I have gotten to see her in concert twice and would do it again. I also love a wide variety of music. If you look at my music library, you will see something from every genre. I make a shocking number of playlists on my Apple Music account to fit my different moods.

Do you have a secret skill or talent?  I have a vast knowledge of useless pop culture facts. Who was that one actor? In that one movie? With the one thing? I bet I could tell you. I'm also pretty good at singing. My coworkers love it when I end up getting a song stuck in their heads that I've been quietly singing to myself.

Over the course of your tenure with the City of Mustang, how have your job responsibilities changed? I've come a long way since I started working for the Library in 2015. I started as a part-time shelver whose main job was to check-in books from the book drop and shelve them. Around 2019, I started getting more experience working behind the desk and interacting more with patrons. Soon after, I was promoted to a fulltime Circulation Clerk and became more involved in cataloging and processing books. In 2022, I was given my current title of Circulation Manager. Some of my additional duties are scheduling (my coworkers call me a wizard), overseeing the collections process of overdue materials, gathering information needed for monthly reports, and purchasing adult books for the collection. I feel grateful to hold that position and the many extra responsibilities that come with it. Its been a fun 10 years!
