The City of Mustang provides a "Spotlight Employee" each month so that citizens can learn more about the public servants that contribute to our City running smoothly. The Spotlight Employee will feature answers to a series of questions about the selected employee, the department and position they serve in, and unique likes and interests of the employee.
The July 2026 Spotlight Employee is Paige Hesse of the Library Department.
How long have you worked for the City of Mustang? I have worked for the City of Mustang for 5 years.
Where were you born? (Hospital is not a permitted answer) Proud to be Mustang, born and raised!.
Where do you live and how long have you lived there? I have lived in Mustang since I was born. My family spent the first half of my life on the west side of town and made the big jump to the area around Walmart about 12 years ago.
Are you married? Do you have any children? None of the above.
What do you enjoy the most about working for the City of Mustang? More than anything, I love working closely with the community. Whether I am working at the front desk or leading programs, it is a privilege to serve our citizens.
What project have you most enjoyed being a part of while working for the City of Mustang? Working with our teen Dungeons and Dragons group has been incredible. I have been leading the program since 2022 and have taught dozens of middle school and high school students how to play. My favorite part is watching players come out of their shell and become more confident through the game.
Favorite Food? I will never turn down a taco or quesadilla, especially from the Taco Truck by the donut place.
Favorite Recording Artist or Author? Can't choose for either one! Favorite recording artist would have to be Stan Rogers or Tophouse. Favorite authors are Rita Sepetys and Nick Medina.
Do you have a secret skill or talent? My coworkers say I'm good to have on a trivia team. Once, someone called me while playing a trivia game with their family for help with a question. Apparently their child picked up the card and insisted I be called because "Paige would totally know this!" That same coworkers said I needed to specify that I did know the answer to the question, so the assumption was valid.
How have you instilled the passion for reading to others while working at the Library? I love working with citizens and customers to find books that suit their interests. I refuse to accept that anyone doesn't like reading; they just haven't found the right book or the right format. One of my favorite challenges is helping a family find books for their child that "hates reading." We all love it when patrons come back and ask for more recommendations after liking a book we had recommended in the past.
