The City of Mustang provides a " Spotlight Employee" each month so that citizens can learn more about the public servants that contribute to our City running smoothly. The Spotlight Employee will feature answers to a series of questions about the selected employee, the department and position they serve in, and unique likes and interests of the employee.
The June 2026 Spotlight Employee is Amanda Brown with the Human Resources Department.
How long have you worked for the City of Mustang? I joined the City of Mustang about five years ago.
Where were you born? (Hospital is not a permitted answer) I was born in Purcell, Oklahoma.
Where do you live and how long have you lived there? I’ve lived in the area for about 30 years and in Mustang proper for the past 12 years.
Are you married? Do you have any children? Yes! I’ve been married for almost 22 years to a pretty cool dude named Caleb, who works as a hospice pharmacist. Together we have two amazing teenagers: our daughter is a senior in high school, and our son is in the 8th grade. We also have an 8-year-old Yorkie named Bella, a 10-year-old coonhound named Mazy, and a female gecko of unknown age named Draco..
What do you enjoy the most about working for the City of Mustang? The people. I get to work alongside genuinely kind and dedicated individuals who care deeply about serving our community.
What project have you most enjoyed being a part of while working for the City of Mustang? One of the projects I’ve enjoyed most has been helping the Human Resources Department grow from a one-person operation into a dynamic duo..
Favorite Food? Waffle Fry Bonanza!!! From The Press in OKC.
Favorite Recording Artist or Author? Jack White is my number one recording artist. I also love reading, so choosing just one favorite author would be impossible.
Do you have a secret skill or talent? A few fun facts about me: I steward a Little Free Library, one of my crochet blankets won second place at the Canadian County Fair, and I genuinely enjoy making spreadsheets.
What has been the greatest challenge moving from the Library to Human Resources? The move from the Library to Human Resources has felt more like an exciting opportunity than a challenge. I still use many of the same skills, just in a completely different setting.
