At their April regular meeting, the City Council unanimously approved a proclamation declaring the week of April 14th as "Telecommunicators Week" in Mustang in honor of the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep our region’s citizens and emergency responders safe.

The Mustang Police Department has received numerous calls in reference to a scam using the Department’s name and telephone number, (405) 376-2488. The caller informs the victim he is Sgt. David Gillmore with the Mustang Police Department and the victim has a “Federal Bench Warrant” as well as “warrants for sex trafficking” issued for their arrest. The caller uses personal information about the victim adding to the authenticity of the call. The caller requests the victim purchase bitcoin and transfer such to the caller to satisfy the warrant(s). The Mustang Police Department has no such person employed and we would never ask for bitcoin or any other payment over the phone to satisfy a warrant.
